POLICY TITLE: GET WELL EXPRESSIONS AND POLICY # 0220

EXPRESSIONS OF CONDOLENCE

POLICY STATEMENT:

The Council of the Village of Montrose issues the following policy covering the expressions of concern for illness and of condolence for a bereavement.

1. In the event that an employee, Mayor or Council member becomes hospitalized or is ill and cared for at home for a prolonged period, (two weeks or more) the staff is authorized to do the following on behalf of the Mayor and Council:

1.1 Advise the Mayor and Council of the illness as soon as is possible

1.2 Extend Good Wishes and a floral tribute to the value of $35.00

2. In the event of the death if an employee, Mayor or Member of Council, or a member of the immediate family of the above, the staff is authorized to do the following on behalf of the Mayor and Council:

2.1 Advise the Mayor and Council as soon as is possible

2.2 Extend to the bereaved condolences and a floral tribute to the value of $35.00

Immediate family is defined as: Spouse, children or parents or other family members domiciled at the same residence.
